Ex-private eye Rick Archer is now the co-manager of Café Noir on the island of Mustique. He is confronted with a corpse on the docks, a mysterious femme fatale, a French blackmailer and a businessman who wants both the café and his woman. After Rick is arrested, it is up to the audience to convince the magistrate that he is innocent and to find out whodunit.
A hard-boiled murder mystery set in the 1940s, where the audience is immerse in the seedy Café Noir. Classic Hollywood glamour manifests in silhouettes reminiscent of the era starlets. All in a limited palette of mainly black, cream, and red to echo the tones of noir films. ‘All walks of life’ gather at Café Noir, as seen in the range of clothing; from the sequin champagne gown of a trophy wife, to the mangled cockade of a French revolutionaire.
